About The Position

Grand Ledge High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our athletic department as a High School Boys Dive Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diving, a commitment to student-athlete development, and the ability to foster a positive and competitive team environment. This seasonal position will focus on coaching, mentoring, and developing our divers to excel both in skill and sportsmanship.

Requirements

  • Previous coaching experience in diving or a related sport is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of diving techniques, rules, and safety practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills to inspire and develop athletes.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is required; training may be provided if necessary.
  • Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends during the competitive season.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; collegiate diving experience or coaching certification is a plus.
  • A passion for youth sports and a commitment to fostering a positive athletic experience for all participants.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement daily practice sessions that focus on skill development, technique improvement, and competitive readiness.
  • Develop individualized training plans for divers, taking into account their skill levels and goals.
  • Provide instruction on diving techniques, safety protocols, and competition rules.
  • Evaluate and assess divers' performance and progress throughout the season, offering constructive feedback.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive team culture that encourages teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with other coaching staff and athletic personnel to ensure a cohesive approach to athlete development.
  • Organize and oversee team meetings, practices, and competitions, including travel logistics for away meets.
  • Maintain open communication with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic policies and regulations.
  • Promote sportsmanship and ethical conduct among team members at all times.
