About The Position

The High School Bible Teacher will serve as the spiritual leader in the classroom, modeling prayer and Christ-like love towards students. The teacher will effectively plan and execute lessons with appropriate strategies to ensure student mastery of content, recognizing that students learn differently and implementing motivating and engaging strategies to meet diverse needs. This teaching approach aims to develop students into mature, able, and responsible Christian individuals. The teacher will manage and monitor student learning in an encouraging environment that fosters intellectual growth. Additionally, the teacher will participate in professional development and collaborative learning opportunities to enhance their teaching craft and professional relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Current state teaching certificate/license
  • Completed at least 24 semester hours in subject taught for “major part of the day”
  • Completed at least 12 semester hours in subject taught for “less than major part of the day”
  • Completed at least 12 hours in professional education coursework
  • Meet certification guidelines required to obtain and maintain active ACSI teacher certification throughout employment
  • A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
  • A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
  • Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy School System
  • Agreement and belief that the Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind

Responsibilities

  • Intentionally integrates Biblical values and morals into lessons.
  • Understands and implements the Matthew 18 principle with students, parents, peers, and administration.
  • Assesses students' spiritual growth and leads them in spiritual development.
  • Leads students in daily prayer and devotions.
  • Models a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy.
  • Designs lessons with clear, focused, and measurable instructional objectives that promote high-order thinking.
  • Plans for the integration of technology to enhance learning.
  • Demonstrates Biblical integration and Christian worldview in instruction.
  • Establishes learning expectations with well-defined openings.
  • Guides students to apply learning to real-world applications.
  • Implements a variety of strategies to introduce, explain, and restate subject matter concepts.
  • Selects a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials to reach the whole child (spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, and emotional).
  • Employs a variety of questioning techniques that enhance critical thinking.
  • Intentionally plans pre-assessments, formative, and summative assessments aligned to learning objectives.
  • Plans for student feedback through self-assessment.
  • Identifies students needing additional or different instruction and determines effective modifications.
  • Uses assessment data to plan future instruction.
  • Creates a learning environment that promotes positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-motivation.
  • Creates an environment of respect and rapport through reinforcement and praise.
  • Encourages students to accept God, the gift of salvation, and grow in their faith.
  • Provides opportunities for students to lead prayer and devotions.
  • Provides opportunities for students to develop a Christian mind and lifestyle.
  • Manages student behavior by implementing classroom rules, routines, and procedures.
  • Organizes the physical space to be attractive, well-ordered, and conducive to learning, with student work displayed.
  • Communicates in a positive, clear manner with accurate grammar and spelling in written form.
  • Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner.
  • Maintains timely and accurate student records/grades in RenWeb and submits weekly lesson plans.
  • Communicates with families about students’ progress regularly and responds to concerns promptly.
  • Maintains a teachable spirit and assumes responsibility for actions.
  • Maintains confidentiality and supports school success as a team effort.
  • Seeks out and participates in professional development opportunities to enhance content knowledge and pedagogical skills.
  • Creates a professional growth plan demonstrating progress in content areas and instructional methods.
