About The Position

The High School Assistant Principal plays a critical role in the leadership and management of the school. Working closely with the Principal, the Assistant Principal is responsible for ensuring a safe and productive learning environment, implementing school policies, supporting teachers and staff, and contributing to the overall academic and disciplinary success of the high school. The High School Assistant Principal is a pivotal figure in the administration of the school, contributing to the overall success of students, teachers, and the school community. They will work closely with the Principal to maintain a safe, productive, and inclusive learning environment, and they play a vital role in shaping the school's educational vision and mission at Vance County High School.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
  • Teaching experience and a valid administrative NC certification/license.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of educational laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Principal in managing day-to-day school operations.
  • Oversee school safety and emergency protocols.
  • Handle disciplinary matters, student behavior, and enforce school policies.
  • Support the development and implementation of the school's academic programs.
  • Observe and evaluate classroom instruction, providing feedback and support to teachers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Manage student attendance, scheduling, and academic support services for their grade level.
  • Collaborate with counselors to address students' social and emotional needs for their grade level.
  • Coordinate extracurricular activities, clubs, and student organizations for their grade level.
  • Facilitate staff professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teachers to improve instructional practices.
  • Assist with teacher evaluations and feedback.
  • Have knowledge about AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and CTE (Career and technical education).
  • Build positive relationships with parents and guardians.
  • Coordinate parent-teacher conferences and events.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and the community.
  • Collect and analyze data related to student performance, attendance, and behavior.
  • Use data to inform decision-making and improve school outcomes.
  • Uphold and promote ethical and professional standards for staff and students.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Supervise staff and handle personnel matters as directed by the Principal.
  • Implement and enforce disciplinary actions in accordance with school policies.
