The Assistant Principal, High School is responsible for administering and supervising the total high school program by providing instructional leadership, supporting staff and student development, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment. The Assistant Principal supports the principal in developing and implementing a sound instructional program, supervises and evaluates staff performance, maintains the school facility, and serves as a liaison between the school and the community. The impact of this work is reflected in the overall quality and effectiveness of the school’s academic and operational programs. The Assistant Principal directly contributes to the success of the school by promoting continuous improvement, maintaining high standards of teaching and learning, fostering positive relationships among students, staff, families, and the community, and advancing Arlington Public Schools’ (APS) mission of preparing every student to learn, grow, and succeed. The Assistant Principal, High School is a professional, school-based administrative position and serves as an entry-level role in the school-based administrative series. The Assistant Principal is assigned to an APS high school and may be one of multiple assistant principals at the school, with specific responsibilities varying by school.
