About The Position

Lewis Central Community School District is seeking a High School Assistant Boys Basketball Coach for the 2026-27 School Year. The primary responsibilities of this role involve leading and developing students in extracurricular activities to achieve individual and program success. This includes fostering skill development, teamwork, and personal growth, while maintaining a positive and inclusive culture. The coach will also ensure compliance with school policies, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and encourage academic achievement. Attendance and supervision at events are also key components of the role.

Requirements

  • Under the general direction of the Activities Director and Head Basketball Coach.
  • Ability to lead and develop students in extra-curricular activities.

  • Effective communication skills with students, parents, and school administration.

  • Ability to attend, support, and supervise students at events.
  • Ability to travel to events and potentially operate a school vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective programs focusing on skill development, teamwork, and well-rounded students.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to student participants, fostering their personal and extracurricular growth.
  • Plan and execute practice sessions.
  • Create and maintain a positive and inclusive culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and commitment.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community members to promote a supportive and engaging program.
  • Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state policies.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding activities, schedules, and expectations.
  • Encourage academic achievement and emphasize the importance of balancing academics with extra-curricular activities.
  • Attend, support, and supervise students at competitions, performances, and other related events.
  • Travel to all related events and potentially operate a school vehicle to transport student-participants.
