About The Position

The High School Activities Director administers and coordinates programs within the interscholastic athletics arena and other activity programs at the high school and middle school levels. General areas of responsibility include program and policy implementation, building-level budget and fiscal responsibilities, supervision and evaluation of all head coaches, reporting and rules compliance in the areas of sex equity and Montana High School Athletic Association (MHSA) participation rules, maintenance of educational records, and program evaluations to foster ongoing improvement of both extracurricular and curricular programs. The High School Activities Director actively promotes administrative, staff, and community awareness of the purposes, accomplishments, and needs of the school's activities programs, including interscholastic and intramural athletics, and involves parents and support groups in creative, positive support roles. The High School Activities Director reports directly to the high school principal.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Educational Administration or related field
  • Valid Montana Class III Administrative License (or ability to obtain)
  • Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for extracurricular and athletic programming aligned with district goals to increase student participation
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvement strategies
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and student-centered activities culture
  • Ensure equitable access, participation, and resources for all students
  • Administer student discipline, and counseling of students as needed
  • Ensure full compliance with MHSA, Title IX, and district policies for eligibility and participation
  • Maintain accurate and complete program records, including participation, eligibility, and reporting requirements
  • Recruit, recommend for hire, supervise, and evaluate coaches, advisors, and activity staff in accordance with district guidelines
  • Establish clear expectations for program leadership, safety, and student engagement
  • Oversee scheduling of all interscholastic competitions and extracurricular activities
  • Manage all aspects of event planning, including staffing, officials, security and logistics
  • Ensure safe, well-organized, and high-quality events for students and community
  • Coordinate use, scheduling, and maintenance of all activity facilities in collaboration with district personnel
  • Develop and manage the activities program budget in accordance with district guidelines; including purchasing, accounts, fee collection and fundraising
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with students, parents or guardians; District and school personnel; and other stakeholders to foster positive interactions and promote a positive educational climate
  • Represent the school at local, regional, and state meetings and events
  • Model professionalism in appearance, respect, understanding, sensitivity and demeanor
  • Carry out duties in accordance with federal and state laws, Code of Ethics and established state and local school board policies, regulations and practices
  • Fulfill contractual obligations and assigned duties in a timely manner:and perform professionally and efficiently, other duties as assigned
