About The Position

The High School Academy Assistant will provide support for the City Music Academic Program Asst. Director when needed. This is a 10-15 hour per week position. The High School Academy Assistant must be able to work weekends and weekday nights when needed based on our Event Calendar. Applicants should be organized, detail-oriented, possess superb customer service skills, and have experience working independently in a fast paced environment. Main tasks will be opening and preparing City Music classrooms prior to the start of classes during the week. High School Academy Assistant will also help set up and tear down stages for different shows, as well as communicating with musicians on their backline needs and creating stage plots prior to events. Applicants are required to be able to lift 40 LBS or more of backline equipment.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer employment requires pre-registration for the upcoming fall semester (exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters).
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA (students in their first semester can work without an official GPA).
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Ability to communicate and interact with a variety of people in an articulate, cordial and professional manner.
  • Ability to connect with youth and young adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Superb customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Availability between 3:30 PM – 7:00 PM, Monday – Friday.
  • Saturday hours also needed, 10:00 AM- 3:00 PM.

Nice To Haves

  • A major in MP&E is a plus.
  • Percussion principal a plus.
  • Experience with live sound reinforcement.
  • Experience with photography and videography is preferred.
