About The Position

The HGV Driver – Class 2 role is based at the Durham Bakery and is a full-time position with annual compensation of £34,878.48. The driver delivers products to shops, driving safely and completing deliveries with care. The work includes managing a route independently, communicating with colleagues about delays, completing vehicle checks and delivery paperwork, and loading, unloading and moving products safely. Drivers are expected to maintain high standards and ensure products arrive safely, securely and in good condition. The position involves working with transport, bakery and shop teams. Training and support are provided.

Requirements

• Valid Category C (Class 2) driving licence.
• Driver CPC qualification.
• Digital tachograph card.
• Safety-focused approach to driving and deliveries.
• Professional, dependable and organised approach.
• Confidence working independently and handling day-to-day challenges.
• Ability to complete paperwork accurately and follow legal and company requirements.
• Ability to carry out hands-on loading, unloading and product movement safely.
• Positive attitude and commitment to customer service and high standards.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive safely and protect other road users while completing deliveries carefully.
• Follow delivery schedules and inform colleagues of delays.
• Deliver to shops in a friendly and helpful manner and build positive relationships with shop teams.
• Manage routes independently, use sound judgement and resolve day-to-day challenges on the road.
• Complete vehicle checks, delivery records and other paperwork accurately, following legal and company requirements.
• Look after the vehicle and ensure products arrive safely, securely and in good condition.
• Load, unload and move products safely at each delivery.
• Work with transport, bakery and shop teams to keep deliveries running smoothly.
• Adapt calmly to traffic, changing conditions and unexpected situations while prioritising safety.
