About The Position

Wausau Tile is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Hess Paving Mixer Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with production machines, demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, and be capable of operating various machinery to produce high-quality paving products. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

Strong computer literacy, with the ability to understand and react to complex machine data.
Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
Ability to adapt quickly and learn in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to execute and maintain quality standards consistently.
Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively lead the team and communicate with other departments.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs or more, as required by the job.
Repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, and fingers.
Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, and other equipment.

Responsibilities

Review the production schedule and associated paperwork to verify the proper setup of production machines.
Follow standardized start-up procedures, including preventative maintenance and machine adjustments, to ensure smooth operation.
Operate and monitor the production process to ensure consistent, high-quality product output.
Adjust machinery as needed to maintain consistent product quality.
Manage the operation of interconnected specialized production equipment, including: Batch plants, Back and face mix feeders, Additive dispensers, Color batchers, Cycle times, QC inspection stations, Kiln curing time, Paver extraction, Shot blasters, Palletizers.
Ensure that all quality standards are met and conduct regular quality checks during production.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Act as the primary controller of all machine functions, leading and monitoring associated personnel.
Train, lead, and supervise team members to ensure all aspects of machine operation are performed correctly and safely.
Evaluate mechanical issues, develop solutions, and execute fixes to maintain production efficiency.
Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to report issues and communicate with team members.
React to complex machine data and make adjustments to ensure product quality and production timelines are met.
