About The Position

The Herons Host AM is responsible for assisting in the overall day-to-day operation and long-term outlook of the restaurant. This role involves greeting and interacting with guests in a kind, collected, and positive manner, demonstrating a clear understanding and interest in the dishes and beverages served. The primary duty is to provide polite, professional, fast, and courteous service with a high level of professionalism, remaining composed for unexpected situations. Hosts must be polite, positive, and accommodating at all times, remaining calm and sympathetic to guests regardless of the situation. They are expected to accurately communicate upcoming reservations or potential guests to all staff members and assist wherever necessary, including bussing tables, running food, delivering drinks, and resetting tables, embodying teamwork and a positive attitude. The restaurant is considered the host's 'house' and guests are their 'guests,' to be treated with respect. While the responsibility for ensuring great service to the entire restaurant is significant, it is made manageable through teamwork.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.
  • Must be a self-motivator and motivator of others.
  • Must work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in a similar position.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Must be able to consistently delight and satisfy our guests.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
  • Ability to use OpenTable computer systems and Microsoft Word.

  • Treat guests with respect.
  • Assist in any necessary tasks throughout the Food & Beverage Department.
  • Run food and beverage items whenever necessary.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and efficiency of Herons restaurant.
