About The Position

Carle Foundation Hospital is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Hematology/Oncology Physician to join their practice in Mattoon, Illinois. This role offers the opportunity to specialize in a chosen area of oncology and provides a 4-day work week with negotiable call schedules. There is a potential leadership opportunity for qualified candidates to support the growth of oncology services in Carle’s South Central Illinois Region. The position requires training in both Hematology and Oncology, with board eligibility required for new graduates. Both experienced candidates and new graduates are encouraged to apply, with mentorship provided for new graduates. The physician will join a team of nine other Oncologists and will be based at the Mattoon satellite location, which is part of the Carle Cancer Institute network. The practice benefits from a multidisciplinary approach with integrated services at Carle Foundation Hospital and Carle Cancer Institute in Urbana, utilizing the EPIC electronic medical record system. The role includes academic appointment opportunities, teaching medical students and residents, and patient accrual to clinical trials, supported by a National Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) Grant. Opportunities for research, including investigator-initiated studies and collaboration with the Univ. of Illinois Basic Science Cancer Center, are also available.

Requirements

  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology.
  • Training in both Hematology and Oncology.
  • Board eligibility in both Hematology and Oncology required for new graduates.
  • Candidates with experience and new graduates are welcome.
  • EPIC electronic medical record proficiency (implied by system utilization).
