About The Position

Responsible for the daily operations of a specific laboratory area including staff training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Responsible for maintaining compliance and meeting all technical regulatory requirements of certification for the specific area of lab and is knowledgeable of advanced scientific principles within the specialty area and applies that knowledge to the technical, procedural, and research of the area. Assumes responsibility for the performance of routine, standardized biological and/or biochemical test procedures on blood, urine tissue, body fluids, and other specimen sources. Responsible for all training of new personnel and teaching of students. Must concurrently meet all requirements within the standard job description of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations. Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict. Will perform all job duties or job tasks as assigned. Will follow and adhere to all requirements, regulations and procedures of any licensing board or agency. Must comply with all Benefis Health System’s organization policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology with proper academic credits in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, and Immunology is required for High Complexity departments (Microbiology, Blood Bank)
  • Bachelor of Science degree or Associates degree in Medical Technology with proper academic credits in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, and Immunology is required for Moderately Complex departments (Chemistry, Hematology)
  • State of Montana license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Technician required.

Nice To Haves

  • Registration as Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist/Technician and three years’ experience preferred.
