About The Position

In this project, the Hematologist will apply hematology and oncology expertise to fine-tune large language models. The role involves helping ensure AI systems provide accurate, empathetic, and safe medical reasoning across cancer diagnostics, chemotherapy protocols, and hematologic disorders.

The engagement is fully remote and collaborative, with a commitment of 20–40 hours per week, at least 4 hours per day, and overlap with Pacific Time. It is a contractor/freelancer engagement lasting one month, with a possible extension. Medical or paid leave is not provided.

Requirements

• MD or equivalent.
• Active practice within the last 3+ years.
• Board certification or equivalent qualification in Hematology and/or Oncology.
• Strong grasp of hematology and oncology, including solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, coagulation disorders, and cancer therapeutics.
• Ability to articulate complex medical reasoning in clear, patient-friendly language.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Commitment of 20–40 hours per week, with a minimum of 4 hours per day and overlap in Pacific Time.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with digital medical tools.
• Education from a top-tier institution, such as Harvard, Stanford, UCSF, or Oxford.

Responsibilities

• Design and solve advanced clinical scenarios reflecting hematology and oncology practice, including chemotherapy regimen selection and management of coagulopathies, anemias, and hematologic malignancies.
• Evaluate AI-generated responses for diagnostic accuracy, clinical judgment, and evidence-based reasoning in hematology and oncology.
• Identify gaps in AI understanding across subspecialties, including solid tumors, bone marrow transplant, and supportive or palliative care.
• Collaborate with AI researchers and medical peers to improve model quality and reliability.
• Provide structured expert feedback to inform AI development for clinical and educational applications.
