Helpline Specialist Internship (For STUDENTS Only)
About The Position
FirstLink is seeking part-time Helpline Specialist Interns to assist individuals contacting the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and 211 Information & Referral Helpline. Interns will provide emotional support, offer referrals to community resources, and conduct safety assessments and planning for individuals in crisis. This role also offers opportunities to support other helpline operations, fostering skill development aligned with the intern's field of study. The ideal candidate possesses a strong desire to help others through compassionate and empathetic care. This internship is exclusively for college or university students receiving academic credit.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a college or university.
- Must be receiving credit for the internship experience.

Responsibilities
- Respond to help-seekers reaching the local 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and 211 Information & Referral Helpline.
- Provide emotional support and empowerment.
- Offer appropriate referrals to community resources.
- Facilitate safety assessments and safety planning to those in crisis.
- Assist with other aspects of helpline operations to develop skills and competencies relevant to their program of study.
