About The Position

The Company is an industrial gas manufacturer and distributor. The safety of our employees, Customers, and contract carriers is our first priority and paramount to our daily operations. The Helium Technical Specialist assists the helium engineering team, our helium plants and our global helium team to support the operation and maintenance activities of our helium plants and fleet of helium ISO containers. This position is located in Irving, TX and reports to the Engineering Manager.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a technical discipline – Mechanical, Industrial or Engineering is Required
  • 1-3 years of Experience in a technical position related to production or maintenance activities, preferably in a gas production or distribution industry
  • Must be computer literate and have strong experience in Excel spreadsheets, Sharepoint, Word and Outlook
  • Must have some understanding of basic engineering principles, operations and/or maintenance, preferably applied to gas or cryogenic systems.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills needed.
  • Must have solid organizational skills including attention to detail, prioritization, and multi-tasking
  • Be able to effectively communicate with various internal and external groups.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our logistics and global helium team to address basic maintenance activities related to our fleet of ISO containers (coordinate small repairs with vendors, troubleshoot monitoring systems and lead resolution efforts, procure spare parts to Matheson locations where small maintenance issues can be addressed…)
  • Assist the Engineering project manager in managing the periodic retests and rehabs of our ISO containers (scheduling and communicating scope with vendors, issuing POs, reviewing and maintaining retest and maintenance documentation, closing invoices, preparing CR packages for Rehabs)
  • Perform performance evaluations on our ISO containers on every applicable shipments so deviations in performance can be tracked and addressed during rehabs
  • Review monthly production reports from our helium transfill plants and assist our helium plants in resolving discrepancies in helium inventories and container residuals
  • Assist the helium engineering team to perform the required preventive maintenance, repairs and improvements of our helium compressors in coordination with our helium plants
  • Assist the engineering team in reviewing and updating P&IDs and procedures as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
