Helicopter Pilot

Air Methods•Hinesville, GA

About The Position

Air Methods is hiring a Helicopter Pilot for its Hinesville, Georgia air-medical operation, flying a Bell 407 under VFR. The pilot is responsible for ensuring the aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy for transporting medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within the assigned operational area. The role requires compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, the Aeronautical Information Manual, the General Operations Manual, and Air Methods policies and procedures. The pilot has final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment. The role follows a 7/7 schedule with 12-hour shifts and has no supervisory responsibilities. Compensation is based on flight and EMS experience, starting at $82,900 per year. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is offered to new hires only.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and two to five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds and be younger than 70 years old.
  • Pilots must have flown in category within the previous 24 months.
  • For the VFR program: 2,000 total flight hours, including at least 1,500 hours in category, 1,000 hours PIC in category, 500 hours of rotor-wing turbine time, and 200 hours of cross-country time, including at least 50 hours at night.
  • Have 100 hours of unaided night time as PIC. Up to 50 hours may be substituted with 100 hours of NVG time, but unaided night time cannot be reduced below 50 hours.
  • Have 50 hours of total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category. For a rotor-wing candidate with a fixed-wing rating, 100 or more hours of fixed-wing actual or hood instrument time may reduce the rotor-wing requirement to 25 hours.

  • Hold a fixed-wing multiengine rating for twin-engine aircraft or a commercial single-engine land rating for single-engine aircraft, as applicable.
  • Hold a first- or second-class FAA medical certificate.
  • Submit to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing, including pre-employment, random, reasonable cause/suspicion, and post-accident testing.
