About The Position

Baristas maintain high guest-service standards by providing quick, efficient, and professional service. They restock merchandise, maintain a clean coffee bar and workspace, and work to ensure guest satisfaction. The position requires weekend availability and the ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays. Baristas may be assigned other duties by management.

Requirements

At least 1 year of customer-service experience in a food/beverage and/or retail environment.
Previous cash-handling and face-to-face customer-service experience.
Ability to communicate clearly and pleasantly in spoken and written English with guests, management, and co-workers.
Ability to accurately and efficiently input information into MICROS.
Ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
Ability to work cohesively with co-workers within and outside the department.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow up on guest requests and needs in a fast-paced environment.
Must become familiar with Heine Brothers' products and methods, including coffee, espresso, specialty drinks, and retail items.
Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Must be STAR and Food Handler Certified.
Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Ability to bend frequently, reach overhead, twist, and stand or walk for an extended period or an entire work shift.

Previous coffee house and/or hotel experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with guests and associates; listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by guests and co-workers.
Remain professional in all situations and work effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations.
Follow uniform and grooming standards.
Coordinate with housekeeping to ensure lobby public areas are maintained and cleaned.
Assist with monthly inventory.
Maintain a clean workspace throughout the shift.
Follow procedures for accepting credit cards and checks, maintaining a cash bank, verifying guest room numbers for room charges, and handling holds.
Interact with other departments to satisfy guest needs.
Follow proper food-handling procedures and equipment-use and safety procedures.
Follow policies regarding employee purchases, including Heine Brothers' employee purchases.
Follow procedures for newspaper logs, receipts, and returns.
Prepare and serve each beverage consistently according to Heine Brothers' standards.
Proactively seek ways to improve the Heine Brothers' guest experience.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
