About The Position

John W. Stone Oil Distributor, LLC is seeking a Hedge Accountant to work at its Terrytown, Louisiana headquarters. The position reports to the Director of Financial Reporting and is responsible for analyzing hedge fund trades, physical product costs, and related transactions. The accountant will work with traders and the Operations department to monitor fund activity, support investment strategies, and improve operations.

The work schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend rotations, on-call availability, and overtime are required as needed. Employment offers are conditioned on passing a drug screen and fit-for-duty physical examination. The job description may be amended at the employer’s discretion and may not include every assigned duty.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Two to five years of accounting, audit, or tax experience with exposure to hedge funds or other alternative investments.

Responsibilities

• Compute, review, and analyze daily trades against physical product costs to compare costs with market prices and determine trade performance.
• Understand the products in the fund and their corresponding trades.
• Prepare, post, and reconcile daily and monthly transactions, analyzing GAAP reporting against product trades.
• Analyze data to monitor and audit hedge funds for fraud, errors, and discrepancies.
• Establish working relationships with the Operations department and traders.
• Work closely with traders to develop investment strategies and improve hedge fund operations.
