Heavy Equipment Technician
About The Position
Our client, a leading heavy equipment dealer, is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician to join its service team in Columbia, SC. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with a team-oriented shop environment. The pay rate is $35.00–$45.00 per hour, based on experience. The technician will diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction and earthmoving equipment, including excavators, dozers, graders, and wheel loaders. The role includes preventive maintenance, inspections, component replacement, troubleshooting equipment systems, and documenting completed work.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
- Must supply own hand tools.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical service manuals and wiring diagrams.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with manufacturer diagnostic software preferred.
- CDL is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction and earthmoving equipment, including excavators, dozers, graders, and wheel loaders.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and component replacement.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and engine systems.
- Complete warranty and customer-pay repair orders accurately and on time.
- Use diagnostic software and electronic service tools to identify faults.
- Document all work performed in the dealer management system.
