About The Position

Canada Pump & Power is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician (Journeyperson HET) to join their CAT-certified field support and maintenance team in Fort McMurray. This role involves performing precision work in remote field environments, representing a Tier 2 CAT Distributor. Requirements

  • Red Seal Journeyman HET Certification
  • Minimum High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract
  • Competence with rigging, lifting, and confined-space protocols
  • Comfortable using tablets, digital work orders, and telematics systems
  • Accountability, adaptability, and a “safety-first” mindset
  • Leadership and mentor experience
  • Self sufficient and go-getter attitude
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with 3 years of acceptable driving history with the ability to pull a trailer safely.
  • Must participate in and pass screening tests for drugs, alcohol, and other controlled substances
  • Must participate and pass a functional fitness evaluation
  • Must provide a clean criminal background check
  • Must have no site bans

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years’ experience with CAT equipment and Tier 4 systems is an asset
  • Strong field experience and familiarity with mine-site safety standards is an asset
  • Class 3 or 1 driver’s license an asset

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair all diesel engine makes and models and hydraulic systems
  • Perform field service and preventive maintenance on construction, mining, and pumping equipment
  • Utilize CAT ET diagnostics, SIS, Jaltest, and other digital tools for accurate reporting and documentation
  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and OEM partners to minimize downtime
  • Mentor apprentices and lead small service teams when required
  • Uphold the highest safety standards—including FLHAs, JHAs, and lock-out procedures
  • Ensure prompt and respectful client response and interaction
  • Complete detailed work orders, submit parts requests, and provide estimated timelines for repairs
  • Work closely with leadership building and developing the division
  • Flexible work in the shop and in the field
