Heavy Equipment Technician I

Total Industries•Pacheco, CA

About The Position

TOTAL Industries is seeking a Level I Heavy Equipment Technician to perform scheduled maintenance, lubrication services, and minor repairs on construction and agricultural equipment. The role involves diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing equipment, including hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical motors, and developing the skills needed to advance toward journeyman status. Technicians are expected to address underlying problems rather than symptoms, identify additional safety and repair needs, and submit quotes and completed work orders daily. Depending on the assignment, the technician may work as a shop mechanic at a branch, progress from shop work to a road territory, or serve a large customer at one or more locations. A Service Advisor assigns approximately eight hours of work each day. Work may begin at the parts counter or involve repairs at customer locations. Field territory assignments require parking a company vehicle at home and driving to customer sites; a qualified driving record is required. The position requires safe and efficient work, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain productive relationships with customers and colleagues. Technicians may receive pay increases every six months as they complete training and demonstrate skills toward journeyman status.
