About The Position

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Tech Journeyperson - Field to join our team in Ft. McMurray. As our Heavy Field Equipment Technician, you’ll play an integral role in performing major diagnostics and major repairs and servicing all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision. You are responsible for providing the highest quality of service and complying with the company’s established policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for developing and coaching apprentices. The role follows a 14 days on, 14 days off rotational schedule in Fort McMurray, Alberta, providing a balanced work-life arrangement.

Requirements

  • Red Seal or Journeyperson Technician Certification
  • 2-5 years related experience
  • Solid knowledge of equipment systems and repairs
  • Good communications skills with peers and supervisors
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications
  • Committed to continuous learning
  • Strong technical background and capable of communicating with technicians and customers regarding parts and service
  • Health & Safety Knowledge – OH & S rules and regulations guidelines
  • Heavy Equipment Technician Red Seal certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform major diagnostics and major repairs on all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision.
  • Service all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision.
  • Provide the highest quality of service.
  • Comply with the company’s established policies and procedures.
  • Develop and coach apprentices.
  • Collect and examine technical information to pinpoint issues with different equipment systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and access product information.
  • Provide solutions to problems in a timely manner with minimal assistance.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Read various system diagrams.
  • Report customer satisfaction, trends and other useful information to your service supervisor.
  • Report any possible leads for equipment sales to the sales team.
  • Develop rapport with customers and act as the eyes and ears of the branch.
  • Perform competence analysis of apprentice technicians.
  • Identify areas for apprentice technicians to improve and provide on the job training.
  • Organize work, ensuring preparation with information, parts and specialty tooling prior to attending a worksite.
