About The Position

SMS Equipment is hiring a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician to support our construction equipment operations. In this role, you’ll put your expertise to work diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment. Location: Calgary, AB Schedule: 5x2 shift rotation This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise). Requirements

Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (off-road)
Proven shop and/or field experience with heavy equipment repairs and diagnostics
A strong commitment to safety and clear, professional communication skills
Willingness to travel and meet customer site access requirements
Valid Class 5/G driver’s license

Nice To Haves

Red Seal certification
Experience with Komatsu equipment

Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment using advanced troubleshooting tools
Perform assemblies, preventative maintenance, and equipment overhauls
Complete accurate service reports, timecards, and maintenance documentation
Safely lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces as required
