About The Position
Colonie Landfill is hiring a safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator for its transfer station in Cohoes, New York. The position operates heavy equipment, performs routine equipment inspections and maintenance, and supports workplace safety and environmentally sound service. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and every other Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The pay rate is $23.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience. The role is overtime eligible and includes an annual boot allowance, quarterly safety bonuses, and weekly pay.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment, including bulldozers, wheel loaders, motor graders, scrapers, and compactors.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment.
- Promote continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Interact with customers and Waste Connections employees to determine safe, environmentally sound solutions to service issues.
- Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
