About The Position

Carrollwood Farms, a family-owned farm in Stokes and Rockingham Counties, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for its growing Sitework & Grading division. The operator will help develop the property by operating heavy equipment on large-scale grading and construction projects, including pond construction, building pad preparation, and land grading. The role also involves excavation and hauling, erosion control, pipe installation, land measurements, and equipment maintenance. The position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and performing physical tasks such as bending, lifting, kneeling, and twisting.

Requirements

Proven ability to operate a range of equipment, from skid steers to large excavators and dozers.
Strong understanding of excavation, hauling, grading, and land development principles.
Valid driver's license.
Commitment to safety, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with the team.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems.
Ability to bend, lift, kneel, and twist; occasionally lift up to 70 lbs; and walk, sit, and stand for extended periods.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain.

Nice To Haves

Experience with erosion control methods and practices.
Class A CDL.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment, including skid steers, mini-excavators, off-road trucks, compactors, large excavators, and dozers.
Complete large-scale projects such as pond construction, building pad preparation, and land grading.
Excavate and haul dirt materials precisely.
Install and maintain erosion control measures.
Lay pipe according to specifications.
Operate transits for accurate land measurements.
Perform regular, at least daily, maintenance on assigned equipment.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Sitework & Grading Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
