About The Position

Responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment including but not limited to front-end loaders, skid-steers, trackhoes, backhoes, excavators, dozers, motor graders and trenchers. The position involves performing loading and unloading of equipment and supplies, precision positioning of equipment, lifting heavy machinery and components, as well as beams and lumber. Work is performed in a closed or open cab using pilot operated joystick controls, pedals, levers and buttons to lift, move, and position loads using hoisting attachments, such as hooks, slings, electromagnets, and buckets. The operator will observe load hookup and determine safety of load and inspect and report hoisting mechanism. Communication with team members is essential, both verbally and by signal instruction. The role requires working around existing underground utilities and in tight areas, and involves shoring, soil classes and dewatering. Responsibilities include removing loosened material and putting it in piles or transport trucks, identifying safety hazards and taking corrective action, and performing other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial construction environment.
  • Able to communicate with team members both verbally and by signal instruction
  • Operate equipment to dig trenches and holes of specified length, depth, and width and grade.
  • Must be able to pass equipment test and visual observation of operating equipment.
  • Complete the Matrix Service Safety training, and/or Client/Site specific training.
  • Must Pass a background check.
  • Must obtain and maintain an active status within the applicable drug testing program.
  • Must maintain an active driver's license and successfully clear an MVR and driving record review.
