About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Operator operates and maintains material handling equipment and construction-type machinery in support of Army equipment turn-in operations at a contractor-managed site. The role involves safely and efficiently moving, loading, unloading, staging, and transporting vehicles, materiel, and heavy cargo. Operators follow Army safety regulations, OSHA standards, and contract requirements while supporting property accountability and turn-in operations. The operator works with supply and warehouse personnel, Supply Technicians, Material Coordinators, Truck Drivers, supervisors, and the Transportation Coordinator. Duties include inspecting and maintaining equipment, keeping operator and movement records, supporting turn-in and outbound shipment staging, and assisting with site procedures. The work is on-site, indoors and outdoors, and may involve travel within the United States up to 25% of the time, periodic overtime, and exposure to heat, dust, cold, adverse weather, and other challenging conditions. The stated hourly wage is $22.13, with health and welfare of $5.09 for each hour worked.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Army OF 346 equipment operator’s license, or ability to obtain one.
2–4 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
Knowledge of Army safety and supply regulations, including AR 710-2, AR 735-5, and DA PAM 710-2-1.
Knowledge of Army maintenance standards, including AR 750-1 and DA PAM 750-8.
Ability to operate and perform PMCS on forklifts, loaders, and rough-terrain material handling equipment.
Proficiency operating multiple types of heavy equipment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong focus on safety, attention to detail, and accountability.
Ability to read and follow Army Technical Manuals and work orders.
Teamwork and communication skills in a high-volume environment.
Must have a Real ID.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
Must be able to obtain Tier 1/NACI (Public Trust) background eligibility.
Basic English proficiency in reading and writing.
Must receive favorable background-check and drug-testing results.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform routine standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
Ability to meet physical requirements for working in extreme heat or cold, high or low humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, and heights, and in other inclement weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Forklift/MHE certification is preferred.
Military or contractor heavy-equipment operating experience is preferred.
Familiarity with Army equipment turn-in or Supply Support Activity (SSA) operations is desirable.

Responsibilities

Operate forklifts (4K–10K, RTCH, ATLAS, Kalmar), loaders, cranes, and rough-terrain vehicles.
Move vehicles, containers, and large materiel between staging, inspection, and storage areas.
Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers in compliance with Army and DOT securement standards.
Assist with mass turn-in events and timely processing of large volumes of equipment.
Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on assigned equipment before, during, and after use.
Report equipment deficiencies and coordinate repairs in accordance with Army Technical Manuals and site procedures.
Maintain operator logs, equipment inspection records, and usage reports.
Follow Army, OSHA, and company safety regulations; ensure proper lifting, load balancing, and securement.
Safely handle hazardous and sensitive materiel in accordance with Army and environmental standards.
Support supply and warehouse personnel in verifying property-movement documentation, including DA Form 1348-1A and DD Form 200.
Update movement logs and records for audit readiness in compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
Provide status updates to supervisors and the Transportation Coordinator.
Coordinate equipment movement with Supply Technicians, Material Coordinators, and Truck Drivers.
Support staging for inspections, turn-in processing, and outbound shipments.
Assist in developing and maintaining site SOPs for heavy equipment operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Travel within the United States as required, up to 25% of the time.
