About The Position
The Massachusetts Port Authority is seeking a technically skilled and detail-oriented Heavy Equipment Operator with a strong focus on safety. This role involves operating a diverse range of heavy equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and handling physically demanding tasks. The operator will also be responsible for basic maintenance, emergency response, and ensuring the smooth operations of the airport infrastructure, cleanliness, and safety. This position is part of a Bargaining Unit, Local Union No. 25.
Requirements
- Massachusetts CDL "A" License required.
- Hoisting license required.
- Ability to read; basic oral, written and mathematical skills.
- Includes manual skills and the ability to operate machinery.
Nice To Haves
- 5 years’ airport related experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including plows, loaders, backhoes, and more.
- Conduct landscaping tasks such as cutting grass, trimming hedges, and maintaining plants and trees.
- Remove trash and debris from the airfield and performs painting and sweeping duties.
- Assist in minor repairs, maintenance, and emergency response as directed, ensuring the airport's smooth operation and safety.
