Requirements

Minimum 5 years experience of operating heavy equipment.
Class 5 Driver’s licence.
Must be physically fit and capable of performing 10-12 hour day or night shifts on 14/7 rotations.
Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team while maintaining the capacity to work independently when required.

Nice To Haves

Civil construction labour experience is considered a strong asset.
Background in construction and heavy civil experience is an asset.
Mine Supervisor certification is considered an asset.
Previous Elk Valley Resources (EVR) or mining experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Pre-shift check & completion of Mobile Equipment Check List.
Warm up and refueling prior to start of workday.
Proficiently operate one or all of the following; up to 65 ton excavators, articulated rock truck, wheel loader and finish dozers from D5 to D8.
Ensure servicing at scheduled times.
Keep machine & tracks clean and free of loose debris.
Keep windows, any mirrors, and lights clean & free of any items obscuring visibility.
Maintain operable fire extinguishers, fire tools, shovel & Pulaski on machine.
Maintain daily logbook of machine hours.
Immediately notify supervisor and/or site mechanic of any problems.
Be familiar with environmental spill response procedures.
Operators must be familiar with and able to read documents commonly used with their equipment, such as design details and drawings.
Be familiar with & understand project’s Environmental Response Plan and company’s environmental objectives, rules, and procedures.
Operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner according to Provincial regulations and site safety standards.
