About The Position

The purpose of the Mobile Equipment Operator at our Sidney, NE plant is to operate and maintain terminal equipment in a safe and efficient manner while unloading/loading customer’s products into/out of rail car, or truck. The role involves operating mobile equipment such as Log Loaders and Front-End Loaders, as well as forklifts. Operators are expected to understand written documents for proper product handling, basic safe use of shop tools, and maintain communication with co-workers regarding operational needs. A key aspect of the role is to achieve and maintain a basic understanding of how all operating systems function and interact, and to independently perform effective troubleshooting during equipment malfunctions. Responsibilities include startup and shutdown of equipment, learning to perform scheduled maintenance, understanding OSHA safety rules and company safety standards, identifying and reporting unsafe working conditions, and reading/understanding equipment manuals. All work must be performed in compliance with company standards and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating mobile equipment including Log Loaders and Front-End Loaders.
  • Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions; majority of the time will be working outside.

  • Operations in log handling including long poles helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve and maintain a basic understanding of how all operating systems function/interact and independently perform effective trouble shooting during equipment malfunctions.
  • Startup and shutdown of equipment.
  • Perform annual and other scheduled maintenance on equipment.
  • Understand OSHA safety rules and work in compliance with Bell Timber safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and report any and all unsafe working conditions.
  • Read and understand equipment startup procedures, operation procedures, shutdown procedures, and maintenance manuals.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company standards and procedures.
