About The Position

Primoris Services Corporation is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator for a project in the Donaldsonville, LA area. This role involves operating various types of heavy equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating various types of heavy construction equipment.
  • Proven ability to safely and efficiently operate excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy machinery.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required depending on project needs.
  • Strong understanding of grading, excavation, and material handling techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, schematics, and grade stakes.
  • Excellent understanding and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor as needed, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by project demands.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, trenchers, and backhoes in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment and complete necessary documentation.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks (e.g., checking fluid levels, greasing) and report any mechanical issues or malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Safely and accurately dig trenches, grade surfaces, move materials, and backfill excavations according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations (OSHA, MSHA, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively with foremen, supervisors, and other crew members regarding project progress, potential hazards, and equipment needs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and other project documents to ensure accurate execution of work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
  • Assist ground crew with manual labor when equipment operation is not required.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and outdoor environments.
