About The Position

Moves the residential and commercial garbage that comes into the landfill to the appropriate area according to site plan. Operates heavy equipment including dozer, compactor, motor grader, excavator, loader, dump trucks, roll-offs, water truck backhoe, scraper, and sheep foots. The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Requirements

• Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in equipment operation and solid waste services.
• Knowledge of hazards and safety rules and precautions of operating heavy equipment.

• At least five (5) years of experience operating heavy equipment.
• A valid Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) class A or B is required.
• Valid Texas Driver License.
• If Applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
• Must be able to function in a principle-based organization that has a culture built on character and core values.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment (compactor, scraper, grader, dozer, etc.) safely and proficiently for purpose of waste disposal.
• Operates a mechanical, side loading packer truck, collecting solid waste on a designated route, including streets and alleys.
• Operates hydraulically operated arms to lift mechanized containers which are emptied into the truck and hydraulic rams to compact the refuse.
• Detects, identifies, and reports improper equipment performance and makes necessary operational adjustments.
• Performs related work as required.
