Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Previous heavy equipment operating experience is required.
  • Experience leading, training, and directing employees in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Successful candidates will be mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work alternate shifts for training purposes, as well as weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completed a Loader Operator Certificate.
  • Experience with composting operations is considered an asset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance and loader pre-operational inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Miller Waste Systems safety protocols and be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Operate the Front-End Loader, Screeners, and other composting equipment as assigned.
  • Delegate daily tasks and provide direction to site employees to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Responsible for the timely and efficient processing of materials daily.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor new employees.
  • Perform loader pre-operational inspections and report equipment deficiencies.
  • Work cooperatively with equipment operators, staff, customers, and management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within daily operations.
  • Perform general shop maintenance and housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Assist with additional operational and maintenance tasks as assigned by management.
  • Work flexible shifts, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required.
