About The Position

BEMAC is seeking a qualified working Heavy Equipment Operator Foreman/Foreperson to join their on-site Construction team for a 2-month project near Fort MacKay, Alberta. This role involves supervising and coordinating equipment operators and crews, planning and executing daily work, enforcing HSE requirements, and ensuring compliance with ground disturbance and permits. The position requires strong knowledge and experience operating various heavy equipment, overseeing excavation, grading, and material handling, conducting equipment checks, and monitoring work quality. The project is located at a remote camp with a 14 days on/14 days off rotation and 10-hour workdays. While local candidates are preferred, fly-in, fly-out options from Edmonton or Calgary are available.

Requirements

• Valid Heavy Equipment Operator certification or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of heavy civil construction experience (oil sands/mining preferred)
• Proven experience leading crews in earthworks, site preparation, and infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated experience in earthworks, site preparation, and infrastructure work
• Strong knowledge of safe work practices and ground disturbance requirements
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
• Fall Arrest, First Aid (Intermediate) & GD Level II and Zoom Boom certification is required

Nice To Haves

• Experience in live operating environments (e.g., oil sands brownfield sites) and/or large EPC Projects is an asset
• WHMIS, Incident Investigation and Wildlife Awareness would be considered an asset
