Heavy Equipment Operator (Dozer Operator) (Fort Hills)
About The Position
NACG is seeking Dozer Operators to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region. For this role, NACG offers a combined rate of up to $52.29/hour as well as room for growth! The work site is Fort Hills, with a schedule of 14x7 12 hour shifts (Paid for 12 hours) for both days and nights. Camp accommodations are provided, and flights are provided to and from Edmonton or Calgary. Overtime is provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week. Successful candidates will become a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.
Requirements
- Previous experience operating and bulk pushing D8-D10 sized Dozer in a mining environment (overburden)
- Previous experience operating with muskeg / soft ground required
- Must be able to follow instructions to ensure safe equipment operation
- A safety-first attitude
- Attentive and possess strong listening skills
- Must be proficient in English, both verbal and written
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
Nice To Haves
- Minimum one year experience in a mining atmosphere preferred
- High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset
Responsibilities
- Operate various sizes and models of Dozers required to complete assigned work
- Read stakes and be able to place a grade as needed
- Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards and procedures
- Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
- Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
- Complete equipment/ area walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments and ensure all equipment is running properly
- Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
- Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
