About The Position
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Yellow Iron) to join our team supporting our North Carolina landfill operations. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment. The position will split time between: Shotwell Landfill – Knightdale, NC Tri-Corners Landfill – Liberty, NC
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years of experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of heavy equipment systems and maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice To Haves
- ASE Diesel Certification or equivalent technical certification
- Experience operating heavy equipment (bulldozers, loaders, excavators, etc.)
- Familiarity with landfill or construction environments
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
- Identify issues and complete or recommend appropriate repair solutions to ensure equipment reliability
- Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations
