About The Position

JP Logistics & Consulting LLC (JPLC) is seeking a talented Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work in a unique, dynamic environment at Tyndall AFB, FL. The role involves analyzing malfunctions and repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining various types of power equipment. The mechanic will operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects, dismantle and reassemble equipment, replace defective parts, and test overhauled equipment for operating efficiency. Responsibilities may also include welding broken parts and potentially directing other workers. The position requires providing preventative maintenance and repairs on a range of vehicles including General Purpose & Base Maintenance/Construction, Non-Registered Equipment, Military Design vehicles, and Fire Trucks.

Requirements

Must be a US Citizen.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must have experience in wiring, electronics, automotive mechanical repairs, welding, and machine shop fundamentals.
Must be able to speak fluent English.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must obtain a favorable, trustworthy determination.
Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
Must be Flexible.
ASE Certified
High School diploma or equivalent
Automotive technician (e.g., mechanics, service technicians) with current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in medium/heavy duty truck specialty OR possess 3 years’ experience in medium/heavy duty vehicle maintenance.

Nice To Haves

Possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s license (required for at least one individual to haul equipment/attachments when needed for maintenance purposes).

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on General Purpose & Base Maintenance/Construction vehicles.
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Non-Registered Equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Military Design vehicles.
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on Fire Trucks.
Analyze malfunctions and repair, rebuild, and maintain power equipment such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, and pneumatic tools.
Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools.
Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
Replace defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
Weld broken parts and structural members.
Potentially direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.
Potentially repair, adjust, and maintain mining machinery.
Provide a minimum of 1 individual with a Class A Commercial Driver’s license as required to haul equipment/attachments when needed for maintenance purposes.
Perform additional duties as required.
