About The Position

This position is responsible for performing work and maintenance for cars, trucks, construction equipment, and works under the Shop Manager. The role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, planning and executing repairs, and performing routine maintenance to ensure the proper functioning of vehicles and equipment.

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle, construction equipment, and small engine maintenance and repairs.
Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
Ability to read service and repair manuals.
Ability to utilize asset tracking software.
Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
Scheduling and delegating tasks.
Gaining respect of employees.
Inventory/ordering supplies and materials.
Reading equipment manuals and schematics.
Problem solving.
Comply with safety standards.
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied in interaction with coworkers, superintendents, project managers, owners, subcontractors, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive or give work direction.
Construction techniques and applications.
Equipment and vehicle repair and maintenance activities.

Valid Driver’s License must be able to pass Company MVR policy.

Nice To Haves

Technical degree from an accredited institution preferred.
Five years of related experience preferred.
Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.

Responsibilities

Collect information on vehicle and equipment history, problems, and known maintenance or repairs required.
Identify mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment.
Perform tests on specific parts and systems to determine proper operation.
Examine critical parts and systems using standard checklists.
Plan repairs and timetables for completion, providing the Shop Manager with time and cost estimates.
Order parts as determined.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
Conduct post-repair diagnostics to confirm repairs were made properly and problems resolved.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
