About The Position

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of mobile and production equipment that supports Living Earth’s mulch, soil, composting, and material-handling operations. This role performs both shop-based and field repairs across multiple Middle Tennessee sites and plays a key part in minimizing downtime and ensuring safe, reliable operation of all equipment.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Strong experience with electrical/ECM/DEF systems.
  • Skilled in hydraulic diagnostics, hose assembly, and fitting work.
  • Ability to perform welding and light fabrication.
  • Proficient in reading and using service manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Comfortable performing field repairs on large equipment and trucks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and urgency in minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with operators, managers, and vendors.
  • CDL-A license required (for operation of the service truck).
  • Must have own tools suitable for heavy equipment repair.
