About The Position

We are hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Fort Hood, Texas, to support the U.S. Army Stryker Combat Vehicle Program. This role performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of Stryker vehicle automotive, hydraulic, powertrain, and suspension systems while utilizing technical manuals, Built-In Test Equipment (BITE), IETMs, schematics, and military maintenance procedures in a defense maintenance environment.

Must be able to gain and maintain access to U.S. military facilities.
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
1–3 years of heavy equipment, military vehicle, or related mechanical maintenance experience.
Experience performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and automotive systems.
Ability to identify components using IETMs, technical schematics, parts catalogs, and cross-reference documentation based on vehicle configuration.
Knowledge of Stryker vehicle systems, military maintenance procedures, and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
Experience using Built-In Test Equipment (BITE), diagnostic equipment, precision tools, and specialty maintenance equipment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Documented trade school, technical school, military, or commercial mechanical training.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and diagnostic documentation.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) products and manufacturing processes.
Experience supporting military ground combat vehicle maintenance programs.
Familiarity with military terminology and Stryker platform configurations.
Experience training or mentoring maintenance personnel.

Responsibilities

Perform troubleshooting to identify mechanical faults, failures, and system deficiencies on Stryker combat vehicles.
Conduct Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) in accordance with military technical manuals and maintenance procedures.
Diagnose and repair automotive powertrain systems, including engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel systems, exhaust systems, drivelines, and suspension components.
Utilize Built-In Test Equipment (BITE), Manual Troubleshooting Procedures (MTPs), special tools, and applicable technical documentation to isolate and correct equipment malfunctions.
Remove, repair, replace, adjust, reassemble, and test Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), subassemblies, and vehicle components.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems common to Stryker vehicle platforms and mission-specific variants.
Read and interpret technical manuals, Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), schematics, wiring diagrams, troubleshooting flowcharts, and maintenance documentation.
Complete maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, and required administrative documentation accurately and timely.
Maintain accountability and serviceability of special tools, diagnostic equipment, and assigned government property.
Utilize Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to support maintenance documentation and reporting.
