About The Position

This position is for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic I at Yuma Proving Ground, AZ. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and overhauling major assemblies of wheeled/tracked type construction vehicles such as dump trucks, loaders, dozers, scrapers, and graders. The mechanic will replace worn or broken parts, read and interpret manufacturer’s technical manuals, and document maintenance actions. Responsibilities include repairing air brake systems, air-operated components, hydraulic systems, A/C systems, electrical systems, and specialized test components. The position also requires performing quality control inspections and other duties as needed to complete the assigned mission. This role is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

• Diagnoses, repairs, and/or overhauls major assemblies of wheeled/tracked type construction vehicles, including, but not limited to, dump trucks, loaders, dozers, scrapers, and graders.
• Replaces worn or broken parts.
• Reads, interprets, and follows manufacturer’s technical manuals.
• Properly documents maintenance actions on the applicable forms.
• Repairs air brake systems or air operated components, hydraulic systems, A/C systems, electrical systems, and specialized or one of a kind test components.
• Performs quality control inspections.
