Akima Facilities Operations is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Combat Systems to work in Fort Hood, TX. This role involves analyzing malfunctions and repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining power equipment such as cranes, power shovels, scrapers, paving machines, motor graders, trench-digging machines, conveyors, bulldozers, dredges, pumps, compressors, pneumatic tools, and tracked/wheeled vehicles. The mechanic will operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects, dismantle and reassemble equipment, examine parts for damage or wear, replace defective components, and test overhauled equipment. Welding of broken parts and structural members is also a responsibility. The role requires specialization in military combat systems, including hull and turret operations of Bradley's, Tanks, or Paladins. The mechanic will diagnose and repair worn or broken components on these systems and educate/oversee non-specialized mechanics. Formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience are typically required.
