The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Combat Logistic Support (CLS) Mobile Training Team (MTT) Instructor is responsible for the instruction on diagnostic and repairs of military/civilian light, medium, and heavy wheeled equipment and troubleshoots malfunctions, and repairs, rebuilds and maintains heavy equipment. The training is conducted as part of a Mobile Training Team and will be performed at the V2X Indianapolis, IN facility, various CONUS/OCONUS locations and remote as required. This position has a high frequency of travel. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic CLS Instructor will operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantle and reassemble equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replace defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency. The position will require conducting mechanical and electrical repairs as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in servicing, troubleshooting and repairing military and civilian wheeled equipment.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport.
  • Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.
  • Must be familiar with the use of electronic technical manuals.
  • Must be able to secure and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC),within three months of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience instructing vehicular mechanical/electrical basic repair and maintenance
  • Graduate of US Army 94 series or other service equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expert instruction to students on vehicular mechanical/electrical basic repair and maintenance.
  • Assists with instruction on basic V2X systems and their operation.
  • Inspects, tests, and operates wheeled equipment (commercial and military) to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
  • Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wheeled vehicles and trailer equipment.
  • Removes, disassembles, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstall components and accessories.
  • Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
  • Operates, cleans, inspects, and services wheeled equipment for maintenance purposes.
  • Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, Foreign Object Damage prevention and safety at all times.
  • Working with a variety of repair and test equipment including welders, torches, pressure testers, electrical testers and various other test equipment.
  • Assists Radar Instructor/Technicians as required with installation, maintenance and repair of radar systems as needed with training and direction provided.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
  • Receives guidance and direction as necessary from the Program Manager with regards on policies, directives and professional development.
