Heavy Equipment Field Technician (Mechanic)
About The Position
EquipmentShare is hiring a Heavy Equipment Field Technician (Mechanic) at our onsite facility in Austin, TX. This role involves providing maintenance and repair for a variety of company-owned heavy equipment machinery and aerial lifts. Mechanics will have the opportunity to work on the newest fleet in the industry. The position requires using technology to manage work orders, track service intervals, order parts, and diagnose issues. Responsibilities include practicing safe job practices, using technology like laptops and tablets, performing maintenance and repair on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems, assisting in training lower-level technicians, maintaining documentation, and assisting with equipment and parts pick-up and delivery. Field Technicians may also travel to customer job sites for repairs and must maintain their service vehicle professionally. The company provides year-round OEM training.
Requirements
- Must own tools applicable to position
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
- Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
- High School diploma, Trade school certificate preferred
- Experience in field service, maintenance and repair preferred
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Must be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicle.
- Must be able to move, stand, stoop and bend freely
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Field Technicians may be required to be clean shaven in order to enter worksites for EquipmentShare customers who have this requirement
- This is a safety sensitive position and any offer of employment will be contingent on passing a 10 panel drug screen
- Employment is contingent on passing a background check.

Responsibilities
- Practice safe job practices for repairing equipment
- Use technology (laptops and tablets) comfortably
- Maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
- Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
- Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
- Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
- Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
- Other duties, assigned as needed
