Ready to take the next step in your career? Your new opportunity might be right here. We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Field Technician - Journeyperson to join our Service team in Acheson, AB. As our Heavy Equipment Field Technician - Journeyperson, you’ll play an integral role in performing major diagnostics and major repairs and servicing all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision. You are responsible for providing the highest quality of service and complying with the company’s established policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for developing and coaching apprentices.

Requirements

  • Red Seal or Journeyperson Technician Certification
  • 2-5 years related experience
  • Solid knowledge of equipment systems and repairs
  • Good communications skills with peers and supervisors
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications
  • Committed to continuous learning
  • Strong technical background and capable of communicating with technicians and customers regarding parts and service
  • Health & Safety Knowledge – OH & S rules and regulations guidelines
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on quality service.
  • Ability to work in remote areas with limited access to technical support.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions – hot, cold, raining, snowing, greasy and dusty.
  • Physical job with heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
  • Ability to recharge regularly and take vacation time.

Responsibilities

  • Performing major diagnostics and major repairs on all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision.
  • Servicing all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision.
  • Providing the highest quality of service.
  • Complying with the company’s established policies and procedures.
  • Developing and coaching apprentices.
  • Collecting and examining technical information to pinpoint issues with different equipment systems.
  • Providing solutions to problems in a timely manner with minimal assistance.
  • Troubleshooting and reading various system diagrams.
  • Reporting customer satisfaction, trends and other useful information to your service supervisor.
  • Reporting any possible leads for equipment sales to the sales team.
  • Developing rapport with customers and being the eyes and ears of the branch.
  • Taking opportunities to make a difference.
  • Listening actively and performing competence analysis of apprentice technicians.
  • Identifying areas for apprentices to improve and providing on the job training to assist in their development.
  • Organizing work, ensuring preparation with information, parts and specialty tooling prior to attending a worksite.
