About The Position

Dobbs Equipment is seeking a Service Technician Intern. Selected students will get part-time on-the-job experience at one of our locations while you attend the school of your choice. We offer competitive wages and great hands-on experience. When you graduate, full-time opportunities are available to continue your growth and development. Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of John Deere equipment, specifically Undercarriage, including their designs, repair, and maintenance is required. (Experience with other comparable brand equipment will be considered on a case-by-case basis.)
  • Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software and related hardware are required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Be willing to accept the internship for at least a 12-week period
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and operation.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment safely around shop.
  • Pass a drug screen and background check.
  • High school diploma
  • Stay current with technical changes.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teammates.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Must be able to self-manage/self-motivate.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write diagnosis and work completed on routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Develop skills in disassembly, assembly and repair of components and machines.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Quick learner with the ability to think out of the box.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments while maintaining a safe work environment and safe work habits.
  • Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments.
  • Report any additional work required on equipment to the Service Manager, for proper and safe operation by the customer.
  • Participate in all training programs as directed by the Service Manager.
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Bring to the attention of the Service Manager any shop tools, equipment or vehicle that is not in a serviceable condition or is unsafe to use.
  • Always conduct self to present a professional image of the dealership.
  • Perform any inspections as required.
  • Check and report any shortages and malfunctions to the Service Manager.
  • Ability to remove and install tracks, rollers, idlers, and sprockets is required.
  • Ability to operate equipment is required.
  • Perform all service tasks as assigned by the Service Manager, Supervisor, or Shop Foreman.
  • Report to Service Manager any additional work required to ensure proper operation and safety of equipment.
  • Participate in service training programs required for development of skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain and care for shop tools, equipment, vehicles, and other employee’s belongings.
  • Reports to work on time, as scheduled.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles and follow all motor vehicle state safety laws (if necessary).
  • Adhere to the safety policies of Dobbs Equipment and the clients for whom we work.
