About The Position

Matt's Repair is hiring an experienced Heavy-Duty Truck Technician to diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy-duty trucks and diesel engines at its shop north of Brandon, South Dakota. The shop has been in business for 20 years and services a variety of trucks, vehicles, and equipment, including Class 8 trucks such as Peterbilt and Kenworth and diesel engines such as Caterpillar and Cummins. The role offers pay starting at $30 per hour, based on experience and quality of work, with 40 or more hours of overtime available. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Benefits include health and dental insurance, Aflac supplemental coverage, a 401(k) plan, paid major holidays, uniforms and laundry service, and annual raises based on performance and quality of work. The shop plans to add air conditioning in spring 2026. There is also an option to operate the service truck for technicians who are interested. The ideal candidate has previous heavy-duty diesel truck repair experience, can diagnose problems and complete repairs independently, and is dependable, self-motivated, and committed to quality workmanship. Experience with Peterbilt, Kenworth, Caterpillar, and/or Cummins equipment is preferred. Candidates must have their own mechanic's tools. A CDL is a plus but is not required.

Requirements

Previous experience repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks is required.
Strong knowledge of Class 8 truck systems and diesel engine repair.
Must have own mechanic's tools.
Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and complete repairs independently.
Dependable, self-motivated, and committed to quality workmanship.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Peterbilt, Kenworth, Caterpillar, and/or Cummins equipment is preferred.
Experience with engine repair, engine swaps, and major mechanical repairs is highly valued.
CDL is a plus but is not required.
Interest in operating the service truck.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair Class 8 heavy-duty trucks and diesel-powered equipment.
Perform engine diagnostics, repairs, removals, and replacements.
Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, including Caterpillar and Cummins systems.
Service and repair Peterbilt, Kenworth, and other heavy-duty vehicles.
Perform mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and component replacements.
Use diagnostic equipment and specialty tools to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Complete repairs accurately and efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
Assist with mobile service calls when interested and needed.
