About The Position

We are seeking a Heavy Duty Technician (Mechanic) to join our team, based in North Battleford, SK. This role involves maintaining, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment used in powerline construction, providing mobile mechanic support for in-field service needs, as dictated by operational requirements, with a fully equipped service truck provided. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in field-based repairs and troubleshooting, ensuring fleet assets remain in optimal working condition.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Class 1 Drivers license and a clean driver’s abstract
  • Valid Heavy Duty Journeyman / Journeyperson Certificate
  • Strong diagnostic skills in engine, hydraulic, and modern emission systems service and repair
  • Experience working with a variety of heavy equipment makes and models, including: Construction equipment (Yellow Iron) and Utility equipment (Digger trucks, Bucket trucks, Nodwell track units, cranes)
  • Must reside locally or within a reasonable commuting distance
  • Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding experience is considered an asset
  • CVIP inspection certification
  • Utility equipment experience (e.g., telehandlers, four-wheel loaders, cranes, bucket trucks, and diggers)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues both in the field and in the shop
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability
  • Travel to job sites as needed to provide on-site mechanical support
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all repairs, inspections, and parts used
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment as required
  • Ensure all work complies with company safety policies and industry regulations
  • Collaborate with operations and fleet management teams to schedule maintenance and prioritize repairs
  • Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies needed for repairs
  • Operate tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
  • Adhere to Canadian Hours of Service (HOS) regulations when operating a service truck (vehicles over 4,500 kg)
