About The Position

This role involves managing high-volume customer interactions with a consistently outgoing, upbeat, and cheerful demeanor. The Heavy Duty Steward is responsible for building guest relations throughout every shift by engaging with customers, making them feel welcome and comfortable, and encouraging them to return. A key aspect of the job is providing superior guest service, positively influencing interactions with both guests and employees, and demonstrating the resilience to handle difficult guests and work effectively with colleagues. The position requires cleaning and washing all kitchen equipment, pots, pans, china, silverware, and glasses using the dishwasher, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen work areas and restaurant equipment by sweeping and mopping floors, and washing work tables, walls, refrigerators, stoves, steamers, and meat blocks. Inventory management of china, silverware, and glassware is also a responsibility, including reporting shortages and devising methods to prevent theft and waste. The role also includes reporting and ordering parts for defective kitchen equipment, properly storing all kitchen equipment, and delivering stock from the receiving department to food outlets. Additional duties involve taking out kitchen trash, cleaning floors and cookers, possessing complete knowledge of casino events and promotions, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area. Ethical adherence to regulatory, departmental, and Company policies is expected, along with empowering others to do the same. The Heavy Duty Steward will handle routine customer complaints and incidents, using discretion to identify situations requiring supervisory attention and resolving issues to maintain positive guest relationships. Flexibility in scheduling, including late nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays, is required as business operations dictate. The role also includes assisting in maintaining a spotless environment by disposing of discarded items and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a 1055 Slot/Cardroom/Pari-Mutuel Individual Combo Slot license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Ability to assess customer needs, meet quality standards for services, and evaluate customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others.
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand points being made, ask questions as appropriate, and not interrupt at inappropriate times.
  • Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions.

Nice To Haves

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and wash all kitchen equipment, pots, pans, china, silverware, and glasses using the dishwasher as appropriate.
  • Clean kitchen work areas and restaurant equipment by sweeping and mopping floors, washing work tables, walls, refrigerators, stoves, steamers, and meat blocks.
  • Take inventory of china, silverware, and glassware, and reporting any shortages to management, while devising methods of guarding against theft and waste.
  • Report any maintenance required for kitchen areas, and ordering parts for defective equipment.
  • Properly store all kitchen equipment, pots, pans, china, silverware, and glasses.
  • Deliver and properly store all stock from receiving department.
  • Deliver product and stock to food outlets.
  • Take out kitchen trash, including, but not limited to, grease and food particles from garbage disposals.
  • Clean floors in the kitchen area and cookers.
  • Have complete knowledge of all casino events and promotional activities, and assist as needed.
  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and Company policies in an ethical manner and empower and require others to do the same.
  • Handle routine customer complaints and incidents, and exhibit the appropriate discretion to identify situations requiring the attention of supervisory personnel - seek to resolve all situations in a manner that maintains positive guest relationships.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by business operations, including late nights, overnight, weekends, and holidays; shifts may change.
  • Assist in maintaining a spotless environment by disposing of any cups, glasses, bottles, or other items left on the floor by guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or reasonably requested by any member of management.
