About The Position

ATCO Frontec is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Site Services department in Resolute Bay, NU. The Mechanic is responsible for the repair, overhaul, maintenance and service of a wide variety of equipment. This position has a working rotation of 4 weeks on/4 weeks off, 7 days per week, with 10 hours per day. All travel, accommodation, and meals are provided.

Requirements

Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification is required
Valid class 3 driver’s license is required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good verbal and written communications skills
Able to manage time and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Strong commitment to follow workplace safety requirements and procedures
Able to perform a physically strenuous and demanding job i.e. lifting, pulling
Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions

Nice To Haves

Able to weld, gas and AC/DC is a strong asset
Experience working in a remote environment is considered an asset

Responsibilities

Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services diesel-powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, and excavators
Fabricates, constructs, installs, and repairs equipment and machinery
Diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
May be called upon to operate other equipment
Other duties as assigned
